Top 8 tips for setting up your Felix Smart Wi-Fi to your home network.

  1. SSID Password - Please ensure that you have the correct password for your router’s SSID. Incorrect passwords are the leading cause of wifi connection issues.
  2. 2.4 GHz Routers - Your Felix Smart must be connected to a router that supports a 2.4GHz bandwidth.
  3. Android Devices and Data - Please be sure to turn off your data services while setting up your Felix on an Android device.
  4. Distance - Please be sure to set up your Felix Smart controller as close as possible to your router for the initial wifi handoff. It can be moved into position after your WiFi is set up.
  5. Special Characters in your SSID - Some special characters in your router’s SSID may not be compatible with our Wi-Fi module. If you have an SSID with special characters (*$^@# and others) please consider creating a separate network 2.4GHz network with an SSID with no special characters.
  6. Close all other apps - For the best connection results, we recommend closing all other apps on your phone while you are trying to connect your Felix Smart to your Wi-Fi.
  7. Do not close the Felix Smart App - Once you have started the process of connecting your Felix Smart, do not leave the app.
  8. Make sure you have the latest app downloaded from the App Store or Google Play

Q: How do I get my camera to work in the app?

A: Your camera should work after you have plugged it into your controller. It may take up to 1 minute for the feed to start. If the camera doesn't start after 1 minute, toggle to "Control" at the bottom of the menu and then try the Cam again. Please make sure that you have the latest firmware and app installed to allow for the best experience.

Q: Why does my camera look so grainy and delayed?

A: Your Felix Camera is a 720p camera that uses the internet in order to broadcast its video to your app. A number of different things can affect image quality. Most of them are related to the speed of the signal to your phone as well as to your controller. For the best quality images, make sure that your phone is connected to a wifi signal and your controller is within 20ft of your router or wifi extender. Close all other apps. Occasionally, you may need to hard restart your phone to clear any cache in your phone that may be contributing to the connection issue. Also make sure that your camera case is clean and clear of all debris and algae.

Q: When will I start to receive water monitor parameters in the app?

A: Once you have placed the slide into your water monitor, it may take up to 3 hours for your readings to start. Temperature readings will typically be available before other parameters. For best results, it’s recommended that you soak your slides in the same water as your aquarium for 24hrs (fresh) and 48hrs (salt).

Q: Why can’t I see my water monitor light data in my Felix App?

A: The light sensor is located on the back of your water monitor and must be in the direct line of sight of your light source in order to take a reading. It may take up to 20 seconds for the reading to register.

Q: What do the different colour lights on my Felix Light bar mean?

Solid White: Felix is ready to connect to your router.

Oscillating Green: Connected to Felix Smart server. Operating normally.

Solid Red: Not connected to Felix Smart server. Internet connection Issue.

Yellow: Processing or thinking

Black or No Light: No Power

Q: How do I reset my Felix Smart Controller to a factory setting?

A: Hold down the reset button for 15 seconds then release. The controller light bar should turn white. You are now ready to connect again.

Q: Why do I keep seeing a solid red light intermittently with my green light?

A: This means that your wifi signal is cutting in and out. While signals can have peaks and valleys, consistent solid red signals should be addressed.

Q: What does the Felix Smart warranty cover?
A: Felix Smart has a limited 1 year parts and labour warranty.

Q: Why does my pH seem off in my water monitor?

A: If the ion or kH strength of your water is low, all tests will struggle to provide an accurate reading. The test is reliant on the ions of the aquarium water being strong. kH gives a good indication of ions presence. If your kH is under 6 degrees, most readings from any test may be inaccurate. *Tip - please make sure that your monitor is in an area of your tank that is receiving good water flow and that your slide has been in the tank for more than 48 hours.
